You may know her from “Fashion Police” where she brought her witty extraordinary way of cutting into someone so beautifully that it made us all laugh and cringe at the same time – but to me, she was so much more than that. She was someone unafraid to be herself in a world of political correctness. She was someone who said what she was feeling – and did it in a way that made us a little uncomfortable and rejuvinated at the same time. She was from a different generation who had the ability to remain timeless.
Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss, but know how incredibly lucky you are to have had a mother who put herself out there, stayed true to who she was and was endeared by so many of us. She was an American Icon – a force – a touchstone for so many of us. I know that personally, I will always remember her fondly and always admire her for being exactly who she was meant to be.
Thank you Joan Rivers for giving us all the gift of having you in our lives.
